Profile

Bret Blasius is currently on staff as collaborative pianist at the University of Dayton. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Dayton, where he majored in Music Composition and Piano Performance. He received M.M. from the University of Cincinnati in Music Composition and Piano Performance.

From an early age, Bret Blasius has shown an interest in music. He accompanied choirs throughout middle school and high school and played in orchestras and jazz ensembles in high school and during his time as a student at the University of Dayton.

Bret is comfortable performing in all genres of music, including opera, classical, jazz and musical theater. He has won numerous awards and honors for his piano playing as well as for his compositions. He performed Beethoven’s “Emperor” concerto as soloist with the Miami Valley Symphony Orchestra. Bret has participated in music festivals in the United States and Europe. He is also active as a collaborative artist. Bret has worked with numerous instrumentalists and vocalists in preparation for auditions, competitions, recordings and recitals. He held a graduate assistantship in opera accompanying during his time at the University of Cincinnati. He served as accompanist for the Dayton Opera Chorus rehearsals. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati in Piano Performance.
