Life of Mary Illustrated by Anne Simoneau
A Life of Mary between East and West
The Life of Mary by Anne Simoneau is a computer generated representation of the events of Mary's life. Simoneau, who studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design, is a freelance artist and illustrator of books, cartoons and calendars. She is a blessed and accomplished creator of religious art inspired by the culture of the icon. She creates in an icon-like fashion influenced by the 17th and 18th century Eastern European tradition of religious art. Style and form of the icon take on the colorful and figurative rendering of Western art. The overall result is one of accomplished decorative art inviting joyful and committed contemplation.
Selection, sequence, and specific iconography of the various events of Mary's life used in this resource were determined by Father Johann Roten, S.M. of the Marian Library/International Marian Research Institute. The images used in this resource were commissioned by the Marian Library and are not available for reuse without the written permission.
