Textbook Scholarship

The University of Dayton offers a textbook scholarship that covers the cost of course materials each semester at UD to incoming students who demonstrate financial need — as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) — and who make an official campus visit. This award covers required digital and print course materials purchased through the University Bookstore.

To earn the scholarship, undergraduate students must apply, visit campus and file the FAFSA by Feb. 1, 2027. Eligible students will see the scholarship award on their financial aid offers.

Students who are not eligible for the textbook scholarship can take advantage of our flat-rate price for course materials of just $299.99 plus tax per semester, which includes access to all required materials (print and digital). The estimated cost is communicated on students’ financial aid offers upfront to help you plan for success.

The textbook scholarship is only available for required course material purchases. It cannot be used to purchase clothing, giftware or supplies.

The following students are ineligible for the textbook scholarship:

  • Dependents of University of Dayton employees who receive 95% tuition remission, or the combination of partial tuition remission benefit and other university gift aid that totals 95% of tuition.
  • Students receiving a book stipend from another agency that is equal to or greater than the University's award (for example, Army ROTC scholarship recipients).

NOTE: Undergraduate students entering in the spring 2027 term are the final cohort eligible for our legacy textbook scholarship that is not awarded based on financial need.
