Events are hosted throughout the year to allow honors students, faculty and experts to gather and celebrate scholarship and creativity.
Honors Student Welcome
The Honors Student Welcome introduces incoming honors students to the University Honors Program. The event is led by current honors students, who serve as leaders and mentors.
Typical Schedule
This is a tentative schedule for planning purposes; you will receive a finalized schedule prior to the event.
- 12:30 p.m.: Check-in and opening remarks by the executive director of the University Honors Program
- 12:45 p.m.: Lunch and break-out sessions by major
- 1:30 p.m.: Campus tour: find your classes and see the Honors Program spaces
- 2 p.m.: Event conclusion

Registration
Incoming Honors students who have accepted our invitation to join the University Honors Program may register for the Honors Student Welcome through Porches. Registration typically opens in the early summer.
Honors Signature Showcase
Hear from students who have participated in our signature opportunities, including DC Flyers, Dublin Flyers, Oxford Flyers and more! You will learn about the application process and benefits while enjoying tasty treats.
Honors Art Exhibition
Grab a paint brush, camera or clay. Honors students from all majors are encouraged to submit creative works for the annual juried Honors Art Exhibition. Selected artists will receive a small award and have their work displayed in the Alumni Hall gallery.
Honors Student Symposium
The Honors Student Symposium at the Stander Symposium celebrates undergraduate student research. Modeled on the style of a professional conference, this UD annual tradition is an academic and social event where honors students present the culmination of their honors project.
A typical symposium session includes:
- A formal presentation period
- A question-and-answer period
- Informal time for the presenters to mingle with future thesis writers, their advisors, faculty, members of the administration and any other interested parties.
The event is free and open to the public (including families). Registration is not necessary to attend.
