NACME Scholars Program

Incoming University of Dayton engineering students who are committed to engaging in the Multi-Ethnic Engineers Program can apply to become a NACME scholar.

Founded in 1974, NACME has a mission to enrich society with an American workforce that enhances the domestic workforce by increasing the number of professionals entering engineering and computer science careers.

NACME partners with universities like UD to provide scholarships, resources and opportunities for high-achieving college students pursuing careers in engineering and computer science.

Program Eligibility

UD engineering students who are actively engaged in the Multi-Ethnic Engineers Program, including attending the STEM Summer Bridge Program, and/or have successfully completed the NACME scholarship application who meet the following eligibility criteria will be considered for the NACME Scholars Program:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.2 (for new incoming students).
  • Must be directly admitted into an engineering or engineering technology degree program at UD, including Discover Engineering or Discover Engineering Technology.
  • By completing the NACME scholarship application and being selected for the NACME Scholars Program, students are opting in to the MEP community and are committing to uphold the mission of the MEP, as well as remain engaged in MEP and NACME program requirements, as determined by program leadership.
  • Must have financial need, as determined by the UD Office of Financial Aid and the FAFSA.
  • Must agree to participate in at least one of the free STEM Summer Bridge Program options offered as part of the NACME scholars program (for new incoming students only). Options include: Weeklong in-person STEM summer bridge program at UD, 5-week virtual bridge program (includes a stipend for successful program completion).

Application Information

New Incoming (First-Year) Students

  1. Apply for admission to the University of Dayton. (NOTE: Only students accepted into an engineering major are eligible for a NACME scholarship).
  2. Complete the NACME scholarship form by early March (form opens in February).

Returning (Current) Students

For more information on how to be considered for the NACME Scholars Program, please email nacme@udayton.edu. Please note that students must meet all the eligibility criteria to be considered for the NACME Scholars Program.

To renew their NACME scholarship, returning NACME scholars are required to maintain a cumulative 2.8 GPA, as well as remain in good MEP and NACME standing.
