Developing New Businesses and Social Ventures

The Greater West Dayton Incubator (GWDI) is a joint venture between UD's L. William Crotty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and The Entrepreneurs' Center.

Located in West Dayton, GWDI serves as a pathway for neighborhood entrepreneurs and innovators into the region's startup ecosystem. It offers microlending services, networking opportunities, training and education, consulting services, and additional resources to startups and underrepresented firms.

The initiative also provides UD students with a unique, hands-on learning opportunity in developing new businesses and social ventures. By engaging with local partners, students leverage their knowledge and skills to serve "Main Street" businesses and social ventures that are ignored in many startup communities.

About Us

History

The Greater West Dayton Incubator (GWDI) was conceived at the intersections of the University of Dayton's strategic visioning process and intentional conversations with Greater West Dayton community leaders.

GWDI represents a reciprocal relationship that benefits all stakeholders equitably. This includes serving as a catalyst for generational wealth creation and inclusive economies in Greater West Dayton, while enhancing experiential learning opportunities that prepare students for a diverse and competitive 21st century workforce and society.

GWDI is also a collective impact partnership with The Entrepreneurs' Center. It works in conjunction with the services, programs, and offerings provided through The Hub at The Arcade powered by PNC Bank. GWDI and The Hub leverage synergistic partnerships with other entrepreneurs, community stakeholders and ecosystem partners.

Mission

Our mission is to leverage students and collective impact partnerships to close opportunity and access gaps for diverse entrepreneurs through culturally-relevant education, experiences, and exposure.
