Elevating the Arts

Commissioned in 2023, the Roger Glass Center for the Arts is the first building dedicated to visual and performing arts at the University of Dayton. The building elevates the arts on campus and provides greater connection with the Dayton community through concerts, dance and theater performances, and visual art exhibits featuring students, faculty, visiting artists and community members.

Facility Features

The Roger Glass Center for the Arts includes:

  • A shared back-of-house area that houses two full-size dressing rooms and a smaller dressing room for small groups or special guest performers.
  • Acoustics in the performance and recording spaces is a top priority. Acoustic design is intended to ensure proper sound quality inside the spaces while keeping outside noises out. The building structure is isolated at the perimeter of each performance space to ensure sound transfer is minimized.
  • Two outdoor plazas are available. The North Plaza (Stewart and Main Street side) serves as the entrance to the community and has a 1,000 square foot space for small outdoor art exhibits. The South Plaza (campus side) has bench seating and a 3,000 square-foot multi-use space for art displays or outdoor events.
  • Nineteen new parking spaces are available to accommodate people with disabilities and permanent staff. Public parking for performances is coordinated through UD Parking Services depending on performance timing and lot availability.
  • The building is designed and being constructed with a goal of achieving LEED Gold certification. LEED is the U.S. Green Building Council’s sustainability rating system, which is one of the most widely used sustainability measures in new design and construction in the U.S.
  • The facility provides a number of student opportunities for experiential learning.
