Dear University of Dayton Family,
During this Christmas season, I have taken some extra time to reflect on the incredible gifts the year has brought. Chief in my heart is gratitude to each and every one of you. It is a gift to work alongside you in this extraordinary endeavor to shape leaders in a Marianist way, as our students prepare to become exceptional citizens who serve with their heads, hearts, and hands.
I am continually inspired by the faith, resilience, and earnestness of our students; your dreams and hard work reveal a path to a better world. To our vowed Marianists, your generosity and leadership make the University of Dayton a place of love and learning like no other. And to our dedicated faculty and staff, your tireless commitment, wisdom, and care make this mission possible each day. I am profoundly grateful for the contributions of every member of our community.
As we rejoice in the birth of the Christ child and the love and light He brings into the world, my prayer is that each of us will be renewed in our calling. May we embrace every opportunity to sow peace, kindness, and justice across our University and throughout the communities we inhabit.
From our family to yours, Karen, Kaitlyn, Emery, and I wish you a joyful and blessed Christmas. May God’s grace and peace accompany you into the new year and guide you through 2026.
In Christ’s love,
Eric F. Spina
President
