A Christmas Reflection

By Eric F. Spina

Dear University of Dayton Family,

"This child that you’ve delivered will soon deliver you."

The powerful words from the song “Mary, Did You Know?” speak to Mary’s extraordinary faith and trust in God’s plan for her. The lyrics remind us of the hope that Christ brings to a world yearning for love and peace.

On this Christmas Eve, I find myself reflecting on the unwavering faith of Mary, who holds such a special place in the hearts of the Marianists and our campus community. In this holy season and beyond, may her faith, grace, and humility be a model for us. May we, too, be open to God’s call and work together to bring Christ’s light to others through the way we honor the gifts of all.

To all in our Flyer family, I wish you God’s love and peace and offer a special blessing to those celebrating Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.

From our family to yours, Karen, Kaitlyn, Emery, and I wish you a joyful and blessed Christmas. May the miracle of Christmas live in all of our hearts.

In Christ’s love,

Eric F. Spina
President
