In all of Don Dailey’s roles — accountant, executive, adjunct faculty member, volunteer, philanthropist, or husband and father — his commitment to serving those around him has been at the core of his work.
Dailey graduated with a degree in accounting from the University of Dayton before going on to a 35-year career with PwC in Cleveland. He found success in providing solutions for clients and mentoring employees, and retired as office managing partner in 2009.
Retirement was short-lived as Dailey joined the Boler College of Business at John Carroll University. He volunteered as an adjunct faculty member and executive-in-residence, and shaped future generations of accountants before retiring in 2022.
Led by the desire to work for the common good, Dailey saw his gifts and skills as an extension of a faithful calling to give back. He helped stabilize and grow the high school he attended, Villa Angela-St. Joseph. He helped rally alumni to provide historic levels of support, which raised $5.5 million in scholarships and facility upgrades and helped increase enrollment from 250 to more than 450 students.
His Catholic upbringing and faith, and Marianist education — at UD and VASJ — filled the cup from which he pours. Dailey credits his wife of 51 years for the incredibly supportive role she played in his career. Their son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren also have graduated from UD.
