Who's Publishing What: Making Money Being Funny

Making Money Being Funny

Judy Carter’s new book, Making Money Being Funny: A Game Plan for Financial Security for Comics, Writers, Speakers & Entertainers (Comedy Workshops), will be released this month.

In the book, Carter pulls back the curtain on the business side of comedy and shows creatives how to stop performing for “exposure” and start building real, reliable income. This is not a “follow your dreams and hope for the best” book. It’s a practical, motivating game plan for turning your humor into a sustainable career.

Carter is an author, speaking/comedy coach and speaker who has keynoted and served on the faculty at the Erma Bombeck Writers’ workshop.

She’s been featured on over 100 TV shows and in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Oprah Winfrey Show and on CNN. She has been nominated for Atlantic City’s Entertainer of the Year.

When she’s not speaking, snowboarding or scuba diving, Carter coaches others on how to improve their presentational skills by finding their authentic message and making it funny. Her clients include TV stars, pro wrestlers, celebs and even a United States senator.

As an author, Carter doesn’t like to brag, but she did write the Bible. No joke, she’s the author of The Comedy Bible (Simon & Schuster) as well as Standup Comedy: The Book (Dell Books), which was featured on Good Morning America, CNN and The Oprah Winfrey Show, where Oprah recommended the book to anyone who wants to lighten up. Her book, The Message of You: Turn Your Life Story into a Money-Making Speaking Career (St. Martin’s Press) teaches readers how to use life stories to inspire others and launch a speaking career.
