Viv Sade, global humor winner in the 2026 Erma Bombeck Writing Competition, is a retired journalist and freelance writer from Churubusco, Indiana. She began writing humor at the age of 12, and while classmates loved her stories, the teachers, not so much.
Her humor column ran for years in the Auburn Star and three weekly newspapers in Indiana.
Oldest of nine, mother of four and grandmother of 12, she finds that there's no shortage of material. When she hosts Christmas, there are 50 family members, two cases of wine and a partridge in a pear tree in her 1,885-square-foot house. If nothing else, her family is rated A-1 at proliferating.
She is currently penning a book, How Not to Parent.
