Mize writes from his cabin in the South Carolina mountains while his lab, Moose, keeps the bears at bay. His articles have appeared in Gray's Sporting Journal, Fly Fisherman, American Angler, Field & Stream as well as many conservation publications.

He has received the Professional Outdoor Media Association's Pinnacle Award, its highest honor for outdoor books.
