Seeking a Few Rock Stars

We're looking for outstanding faculty and session ideas for the 2026 Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop.

Deadline for Proposals: April 17, 2025.

Prospective faculty will be notified during the summer if their sessions have been selected. To submit a proposal, click on "Call for Faculty Proposals" and complete the form.

After surveying attendees of the 2024 Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop, we learned that while most feedback was overwhelmingly positive, some writers expressed interest in:

  • Tailored tracks for beginners and more advanced writers
  • Additional workshops focused on advanced craft
  • Greater diversity among the faculty

We’re also interested in sessions on the latest trends in marketing, publishing and leveraging AI to improve your writing.

Attendees are eager to learn from high-quality, experienced faculty. As one writer noted, “The speakers were very accomplished in their field and offered a variety of perspectives and expertise. …This is absolutely the best bang for your buck writers experience on the planet.”

They’re also looking to feel motivated and inspired. “I was so energized and inspired while I was there that I was absolutely buzzing and dying to get my ideas out and onto paper,” one attendee said.

Our goal is to continue nurturing a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for writers at every stage of their journey. “I’ve come away from Erma with a heart filled with joy, a mind filled with knowledge, incredible new friends and more inspiration than I thought possible and for that you have my undying gratitude,” one writer wrote in the survey.

If you are an established writer and teacher with a passion for helping others refine their craft, we would love to hear from you. The Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop will take place March 26-28, 2026, at the University of Dayton, Erma Bombeck’s alma mater. The Erma workshop is the only one in the country dedicated to both the craft of humor and human interest writing and attracts 350 writers from across the country and beyond.
