We're Sorry to Inform You That...Your Forties Are Over

Who's Publishing What: Your Forties Are Over

Your 20s, 30s and now 40s are over. Permanently it seems. You have been a walking, talking, working human for decades now. You’ve eaten your vegetables (or not), nourished and been nourished by family and friends, and even have learned mindfulness.

Somehow, through no fault of your own, you have your 50th birthday (or another significant one) coming up — or you’ve already passed that milestone. The least you deserve is a good laugh — or better yet, lots of them. Renee Burns Lonner, author of We’re Sorry to Inform You That …Your Forties Are Over, describes her newest humor book as “bedtime stories for your over-the-hill self.”

"This book is a hilarious and heartfelt guide to surviving the wild ride of midlife with grace, humor and a dash of irreverence. Written with wit that rivals Nora Ephron, you'll laugh out loud while nodding along in recognition — because yes, those are your mother's eyes staring back at you in the mirror. For anyone navigating the endless stream of creams, medical procedures and parenting disasters (again), this book is your humorous companion through the chaos," says Liz Dubelman, contributor and co-editor of What Was I Thinking? 58 Bad Boyfriend Stories.

Renee Burns Lonner is a consultant for television newsrooms and a licensed psychotherapist based in Los Angeles. Her published work has appeared in many professional publications. During the pandemic she shifted to humor writing, and her work has been published by Medium, LOL Comedy and the Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop blog. In 2021, she published her first humor book If You Give a Man a Tesla: A Parody.
