Who's Publishing What: Kid Pro Quo

In the 1950s, Art Linkletter wrote the hugely popular book, Kids Say the Darndest Things, based on television interviews with children. That book is the inspiration for Lorraine Ray’s Kid Pro Quo, which takes the concept to a new century, with a new population, and adds a twist of serendipity.

Kid Pro Quo is a former college professor’s unexpected delight in teaching and interacting with young children. It's a collection of humorous and — sometimes touching — quotes from the author’s students, choir members and grandchildren. The book also features select quotes from outside contributors, as well as illustrations, commentary and wisdom "from the mouths of babes."

Lorraine Ray is an associate professor emeritus at Ohio University, a former music teacher in Aiken, and founder/director of Aiken Kinderchoir. Her publications include the devotional book, Yes, Cheese-Us Loves Me!, plays, short stories and award-winning essays.

One of her essays is part of the humor anthology, Laugh Out Loud. In 2018, she won the Saturday Evening Post limerick contest.

She recently moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, to be near her grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Max.
