UD students advance to the final round of Olympic case study competition

A group of students in the global sport, culture and business class participated in the first international undergraduate-level case study competition hosted by the International Olympic Committee.

The University of Dayton team made it to the final rounds of competition, to be hosted in the spring of 2025. Students play the role of agencies consulting for an Olympic Movement organization on topics related to current strategic management challenges in international sport, according to the competition website.

The semi-final rounds included 16 teams from across the world. The UD team beat out teams from Austria, Hungary and Pakistan in the semi-finals just before Thanksgiving.

"Our students did a great job representing our university, and we look forward to the 'final four' in the spring," said Haozhou Pu, professor of sport management and advisor to the case study team.

The UD consortium team consists of six students: five majoring in sport management and one majoring in communication.
