Excellence in Business Education: SBA Achieves AACSB Renewal
In an affirmation of its commitment to excellence in business education, the University of Dayton School of Business Administration (SBA) accreditation has been renewed for its business and accounting degree programs from the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
The SBA received AACSB undergraduate business accreditation in 1983, followed by the undergraduate accounting program in 1993. These initial accreditations along with the most recent reaccreditation, were based upon the SBA’s high-quality and innovative programs, which meet the professional needs of our graduates and their employers and enhance the SBA’s reputation. The next accreditation review cycle will occur in 2030.
According to SBA Dean Trevor Collier “This is an endorsement from deans at our peer and aspirant schools reinforcing that we are delivering the high-quality education our mission promises.”
With this extension, the University of Dayton SBA joins a select group of institutions worldwide dedicated to providing top-tier business education. Currently, AACSB boasts accreditation for 1,021 institutions across more than 65 countries and territories, with only 194 institutions holding accreditation specifically for accounting programs.
AACSB accreditation is recognized globally as the gold standard in business education. It is a rigorous, mission-driven process that involves comprehensive self-assessment, mentorship with AACSB advisors, and peer-reviewed evaluations focused on continuous improvement. Accredited institutions must demonstrate excellence in three areas: (i) strategic management and innovation, (ii) learner success, and (iii) thought leadership, engagement and societal impact.
“Our curriculum equips students with critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills, preparing them for successful careers in a dynamic global marketplace” says Dean Collier.
AACSB accreditation underscores our commitment to excellence and our ongoing dedication to providing students with a relevant and impactful education.
Additionally, AACSB's supplemental accounting accreditation further attests to the University of Dayton SBA's commitment to meeting the highest standards of quality in accounting education. This distinction reflects the school's dedication to excellence in both business and accounting programs.
“The accounting accreditation review process is equally rigorous as the business review process. Our renewal is a strong signal that our program provides the knowledge and skill development students need to enter the constantly-evolving accounting profession” add Dr. Timothy Keune, Associate Professor & Chairperson of the Department of Accounting.
The University of Dayton SBA's continued accreditation with AACSB underscores its position as a leader in business education and exemplifies its dedication to fostering the next generation of global business leaders.
