Learning Beyond the Classroom

As a global languages and cultures major or minor, you can choose from several activities to enhance your learning experience. Opportunities include participating in one of our clubs, studying abroad, attending an event and more.

Clubs and Organizations

French Club

Our mission is to promote a deeper understanding and greater appreciation of French language and Francophone cultures, provide a place for UD students to get together and speak French and just to have fun.

Some of our activities include watching Francophone movies, cooking French cuisine, listening to French music, discussing current events in the Francophone world, or inviting international students to share their culture and talk about their respective countries.

New members are always welcome, as well as suggestions for future activities. To learn more, please contact Nicola Work, Ph.D.

German Club

The German Club provides opportunities for students to learn about the German culture. We host a number of events throughout the year which include game and film nights, cookouts, service events, cultural discussions and sporting events.

You do not need to know German. All you need is an interest to learn more about the culture.

To learn more about German Club, contact Carola Daffner, Ph.D.

Sustainability in Berlin, Germany, CAP-Focused Program

Join students from a variety of disciplines to explore sustainable innovations in Berlin, Germany, a noted leader in green technology, infrastructure and urban planning.

As part of the program, we'll identify distinctly German attitudes toward the environment and situate these attitudes in a historical, cultural and literary context. We'll also bring back lessons for how cities in the U.S. can learn to navigate the social, political and ethical challenges that confront environmental and resource management in the European Union.

Our site visits and trips to different parts inside and outside of Berlin will teach us in real-life settings how to relate key concepts and theories that inform ecocriticism and the environmental humanities to other core concerns of human well-being, such as human rights and international peace.

This global seminar lets you earn credit to fulfill multiple CAP requirements towards degree completion.
