There's Real Value in Being a Flyer

Nationally recognized for providing exceptional value to students, the University of Dayton is committed to making our top-tier private education affordable — because our bottom line is student success.

Our Catholic, Marianist vision for education calls us to equip students with the tools they need to graduate on time, be on a lifelong path to success and make a difference in the world.

We provide a transparent overview of costs and scholarships for each year at UD upfront — so you can make your college decision with confidence.

Financial Aid Process

The University of Dayton's commitment to transparency extends beyond the four-year financial aid offer. Admitted students and families also have our commitment to providing transparent information so you know what to expect from the University of Dayton.

File the FAFSA

If you haven't already done so, file the FAFSA for full consideration of all financial aid you may be eligible for, including our textbook scholarship.

UD's FAFSA code is 003127.

After you complete your FAFSA, be sure to check your status on studentaid.gov. For UD to receive your FAFSA data, your form status must be "Processed." To learn more, refer to the "Understanding Your FAFSA Status" information on our financial aid site.

We'll send an email confirmation after we receive your FAFSA. Watch your Admission Account for updates in case we need additional information.

Receive Your Financial Aid Offer

UD plans to begin sending personalized financial aid offers to students admitted for the spring 2026 term in mid-October.

Students admitted for the fall 2026 term can watch for their personalized offers in December and January.

You'll receive an email when the financial aid offer is available in your Admission Account. The printed offer packet will soon follow in the mail.

Confirm Your Enrollment

When you're ready to confirm enrollment, here are the next steps:

  • Log in to your Admission Account.
  • Click 'Confirm Enrollment' on your application.
  • Pay the $400 nonrefundable deposit, if applicable, and confirm enrollment.

About Your Financial Aid Offer

What does guaranteed net tuition mean?

Your financial aid offer will include a four year overview where we break down your net tuition costs for all four years at UD (or three years for transfer students). Your net tuition equals tuition minus gift aid (scholarships and grants that don't have to be repaid). UD considers all sources of aid — including institutional, federal and state sources — to arrive at your net tuition each year.

Each student's financial aid offer is personalized based on financial need, as determined by the FAFSA. While most students will see an incremental tuition increase each year, you can rest assured that the net tuition amount shared in your aid offer is guaranteed, meaning that you won't pay more for net tuition in a given year than what is on your aid offer upfront.

Some schools only share details about your first year costs, leaving you in the dark about future tuition increases. At UD, we share all direct costs upfront so you can plan your education investment with confidence.

Are other costs like housing and meals fixed?

We include a four-year overview of your net price (sum of all billable and nonbillable costs) to allow you and your family to plan your education investment with confidence. Housing and meal costs in your offer are estimates, based on the most popular options. The health and wellbeing charge is also an estimate; this cost may fluctuate based on fundraising and the cost of providing services, but you won't be charged more than the estimate provided.

The published price of tuition, housing, meals, and — going forward — health and wellbeing services for each academic year is set by the University's Board of Trustees, and is normally published in December of the prior year.

What options are available to help me cover the billable cost each year?

Many families use a combination of resources, including:

Is my tuition plan renewable?

Financial aid offers for first-year students are renewable for four years, or eight semesters. Transfer students' tuition plans are typically renewable for three years, or six semesters, depending on when a student transfers to UD.

This gives you flexibility to consider transformative experiential learning opportunities such as a co-ops, internships, education abroad and other options to enhance your education.

Your academic advisor will support you and help keep you on track for graduation. But, if you need to add a ninth semester to meet graduation requirements, we have a process for you to request an additional semester of financial aid. We'll work with you tosee waht financial aid options are available.

Why is there a health and wellbeing charge on my aid offer?

As a Catholic, Marianist university, the University of Dayton is committed to educating the whole person and supporting students not just academically, but physically, mentally and spiritually.

The University of Dayton is enhancing our holistic education with the expansion of the RecPlex and the creation of a new Health and Wellbeing Center, opening in fall 2026. This state-of-the-art facility will house expanded counseling, medical and mental health services, fitness opportunities, and more — helping every Flyer build a foundation for lifelong physical and mental wellbeing.

Incoming undergraduate students will be assessed a health and wellbeing charge beginning in the 2026-27 academic year when the new facility opens. As part of the University's commitment to cost transparency, this charge is included in admitted students’ financial aid offers. This charge also allows the University to budget and plan to serve the health and wellbeing needs of our student body.

It’s also important to note many current students from the greater Dayton area, including commuters, currently use student health center services instead of seeking care from a family physician. Many students appreciate the convenience of accessing care on campus. In addition, as students grow in autonomy and make their own healthcare decisions, privacy and confidentiality are important to students.

Costs for health and wellbeing services are estimated, similar to housing and meal costs, to provide students and families full transparency of the four-year cost of a University of Dayton degree, allowing families to plan their educational investment with confidence.

A Transparent Approach

Missy Bondy Hasselback will guide you through each page of our transparent four-year financial aid offer using a sample aid offer for a first-year student. Aid offers for transfer students and students participating in partnership programs like the UD Sinclair Academy or our nursing program will vary slightly.

Transparent Approach to Tuition

At UD, you'll know the full cost of your education upfront. This means there are no surprises, so you can be confident in your investment and plan for success.

File the FAFSA

We encourage you to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible, even if you think you won't qualify for federal aid. Many University-funded awards require a FAFSA for eligibility.

Textbook Scholarship

To be considered for a textbook scholarship that covers the cost of UD course materials each semester, simply apply for admission, file the FAFSA, and either visit campus or attend an admission event.

You will work closely with your academic advisor, faculty mentors and success professionals to develop a plan to help you pursue your goals and interests — and graduate on time.
