Student Care Fund
When unexpected hardships strike — like the loss of a loved one, a serious illness or unforeseen financial trouble — University of Dayton's Student Care Fund is here to help. Rooted in our Marianist values, the fund provides compassionate, one-time financial assistance to support students through challenging times, helping them stay focused on their education and wellbeing.
Purpose of the Fund
The fund is specifically designed to assist currently registered students who are facing an unanticipated emergency, after all other financial options have been explored. While it is not intended to cover routine or ongoing expenses like tuition, rent or textbooks, it provides targeted relief for immediate needs that fall outside the typical college experience.
The Fund exists to:
- Provide emergency financial relief to students experiencing unexpected hardship or tragedy.
- Support students in financial need, as identified in consultation with Flyer Student Services.
- Offer wider scope of assistance to develop a comprehensive support plan for student success.
- Offer a meaningful way for faculty, staff, alumni, families, students and friends of the University to contribute to the wellbeing of our student community. Funds are made available through generous donations and are administered solely for the benefit of current UD students.
Application Process
To be eligible, you must be a currently enrolled student who is registered in classes for the current semester, as well as for the following semester. The University reserves the right to approve or deny request based on its own discretion.
- Application Submission: An applicant must first submit the official application for the Student Care Fund.
- Case Manager Meeting: After the application is submitted, the student is assigned a Student Care and Advocacy Case Manager from the Dean of Students Office. The SCA Case Manager will meet with the student to understand their situation, connect them with additional campus resources, and develop a comprehensive support plan.
- Request Review: All funding requests are reviewed and approved by the Dean of Students and the SCA Case Manager in collaboration with relevant campus partners.
- Fund Distribution: Once approved, the funds are distributed to the student. Additional paperwork may be required to complete this step.
