Our Doors are Open

Need someone to talk to? Campus Ministry is here for you. Campus Ministers are dedicated to walking with students from their first year through graduation, so you can find a campus minister in most residential areas as well as Liberty Hall. We are here to accompany you through your journey of faith, wherever it may take you.

If you're looking for accompaniment in your faith life, spiritual support or are considering vowed religious life, you'll find plenty of resources.

Pastoral Care and Support Resources

Spiritual Life Coaching

Spiritual life coaching is a unique and intentional relationship that is all about you!

You have been uniquely created with talents and gifts which, when given proper care, will continue to grow throughout your entire life. You have potential that likely far exceeds your present vision. Inside of you are possibilities, dreams, and goals that are yours for the finding, cultivating, and living. A coach will help you turn those possibilities into reality.

Through regular and intentional conversations with your coach, you'll:

  • Discern your calling and purpose.
  • Discover more about who you are and what gives you joy.
  • Focus on achieving your dreams and goals.
  • Find clarity about a path forward.
  • Decide on next steps.

These free sessions typically last an hour and involve meeting on-on-one with your coach.

Residential Ministry

Building communities of faith is core to our Catholic and Marianist identity. You can find campus ministers working in and serving each residential area of our campus: from first-year residence halls to the student neighborhood.

We welcome people of all faith traditions to build community, develop a deeper relationship with God and one another, and to discover how to life a life of faith. Along the way we laugh, have fun, and pray together!

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual direction is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. It's about asking how God is moving your life.

By meeting individually with a spiritual director or companion, you have an opportunity to reflect and deepen your relationship with God.

People seek spiritual direction for many different reasons. What needs the most attention in your spiritual life right now? Prayer life? Vocational discernment? Relationship or family experiences? Integrating faith into your daily life? Encountering the presence of God in grieving the loss of a loved one? Exploring faith questions? Making important decisions?

Support Groups

Sometimes you just need to hang out with a group that "gets it" like you do. Whatever your personal struggles are, you don't have to endure them alone. All of our support groups offer a compassionate, non-judgmental atmosphere. In addition to regular group meetings, many support services are available to students who are struggling with personal situations or hardships.

Hand-in-Hand

An unplanned pregnancy may be a lonely and confusing time, and the UD community provides an environment of love and acceptance, especially through emotional support and accompaniment, counseling, pregnancy testing, academics, and advocacy for adjustments to on-campus housing. This program offers support and care for single, pregnant students so that they may bring their child to birth while continuing their academic career. Support is also available for expectant fathers. To learn more, contact Bridget Ebbert.

Living With Loss

If you have experienced the death of someone close to you, it can affect all areas of your life. Whether your loss was recent or a while ago, this group provides support as well as strategies for increased effective coping. To learn more, contact Katie Mathews.

LGBTQ+ and Allyship Ministry

Rooted in a Catholic and Marianist identity the LGBTQ+ and Allyship Ministry seeks to provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for spiritual and personal growth.

Vocational Discernment

Each person's vocation is rooted in a sense of being called and how we respond to that call in a way that puts our gifts and talents to use for the common good.

UD has an entire team of Vowed Religious and Lay Marianists who walk with students discerning religious life, whether or not they feel a call to a specific religious order.

We welcome students considering this path to join us for reflection, prayer, celebrations throughout the year, a discernment retreat and more.

Students can find more information about vocational discernment in Porches, or you can contact Maureen O'Rourke and Bro. Mitch Schweickart, S.M., at vocations.ohio@marianist.us.
