Catering Policies
Space Reservation
Prior to arranging catered services, please make sure to secure a space for your event.
Event Notice
- Ten business days are needed for served meals, buffet service and receptions.
- Seven business days are needed for small break services, pick up or drop-off requests
*Business days are defined as University office hours (Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.), excluding the day of service.
Final Guest Count
Catering Services requires a final guest count no less than three business days prior to the event date.
Food and Beverage Vendors
Catering Services is the exclusive provider for Kennedy Union, Kennedy Union Plaza/Patio, The Central Mall, Daniel J. Curran Place (first floor) and UD Arena. All food and beverage is to be provided through UD Catering Services (937-229-2216).
Deliveries
Non-exclusive areas will require a $50 order minimum and will incur a 10% delivery charge of the total invoice.
Catering Services is not responsible for providing or placing tables for delivered requests. Catering Services will need access to designated event spaces at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the event.
Cancellations
Catered event cancellations should be made within five business days prior to the event date. Cancellations made less than five business days may result in a cancellation fee.
Inclement Weather
In the case of impending severe weather, please give Catering Services as much notice as possible if you plan to postpone or cancel your event. Although campus may be closed, Kennedy Union and Daniel J. Curran Place (Catering Services) remain open, requiring a cancellation notice.
Removal of Catered Food and Equipment
In accordance with catering industry standards, hosts and/or guests may not take any leftover food, beverage or serviceware from the event site. Any leftover product is donated to local shelters.
Dietary Preferences
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and other dietary alternatives are available for guests with special dietary needs, with advance notice.
Food Allergies
Should a guest require information on potential allergens in the menu items, please contact Catering Services prior to the event. Should a guest need information during an ongoing event, please ask the overseeing catering event supervisor.
Catering Orders
Our catering team will work with you to choose a menu that fits your event, and your budget. We offer creative menus and a variety of service options, including served meals, buffets, box lunches, beverage stations and more.
Eco-Conscious Practices
We are proud to take part in reducing our impact on the environment in various ways:

Partner with one of UD's student organizations, Food Recovery Network; most leftover foods are donated to St. Vincent de Paul or other area charitable organizations.

Nearly all carry out packaging is compostable.

Participate in zero-waste events and recycle.

Pre-consumer food waste is composted on site.

Offer a variety of vegan and vegetarian menu items.

Partner with Ginny's Garden, using campus produce in food preparation.

Use battery-operated carts for food transport across campus.

Partner with local vendors on food purchases.
