UD's Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Program is the perfect opportunity to be involved in research, as well as learn what a research profession entails.
The 10-week program is for undergraduate engineering students who are rising sophomores through seniors to engage in meaningful, hands-on, basic and applied research with an engineering professional mentor: a UD School of Engineering faculty member or University of Dayton Research Institute research professional.
Klesse Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship
We also offer the Klesse Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship program for students who may or may not have previously participated in summer research. If you participated in SURE in the past, you're only eligible for the Klesse Program; SURE is only for students who have never participated in summer research.
Participant Resources
- Students receive a $6,000 fellowship at the beginning of the program.
- Campus housing support is available for students who live more than 40 miles from UD's campus.
Eligibility
- The program is open to those who will be students during the summer of 2026.
- Candidates must have completed their first year at UD or the UD Sinclair Academy.
Current students can explore additional details and application info in Porches.
