Sparking Curiosity for Future Careers

The University of Dayton's 5G readiness training program consists of 60 hours of training material and incorporates content from a catalog of 30+ courses designed with the help of 5G experts from industry and academia.

UD leads Ohio's Office of Workforce Transformation 5G Broadband grant for the West node, which represents 12 Ohio counties including Montgomery County (home to UD). The grant provides resources to develop the needed workforce to build and support Ohio's statewide 5G broadband network. The West node also creates awareness of career pathways for K-12 students and provides educational opportunities to produce a trained workforce.

UD is working collaboratively with Sinclair Community College, Miami Valley Community Action Partnership and Ohio Means Jobs. Sinclair is offering a Fiber Optic Technician certification; UD is offering training and certifications for 5G readiness, internet of things and RF engineer I.
