Purchasing and Ordering

Can I order my textbooks online?

Yes! You can order textbooks online and have them shipped to your home address or pick them up in-store when you arrive on campus for the semester.

Students eligible for the textbook scholarship can use it to purchase books online, but the textbook scholarship cannot be applied to shipping. You will need to cover the cost of shipping.

Note: The UD Bookstore doesn't ship to campus or landlord addresses.

How do I order my textbooks online?

  1. Visit https://shop.udayton.edu/ and select "My Account" in the top banner (above the UD logo).
  2. Log into your UD account.
  3. Click on the first course in "My Courses" list at the top of the page.
  4. Review the materials listed for your courses and select from your purchasing options.
  5. Click "Add/Update Items in Cart" at the bottom of the page.
  6. Complete the CAPTCHA and select the green "Checkout" button.
  7. Fill in the required information and click "Review Order". To use your textbook scholarship, choose "Textbook Scholarship/Student Account" as your payment method and enter your Student ID number in the next section.
  8. Review your order and information, then select "Submit Order".

How do I use my textbook scholarship when purchasing books online?

When filling out the customer information fields, be sure to include your Student ID in the required student info box. This helps to ensure the correct account is charged and allows for processing your order with the textbook scholarship. Your available balance from the textbook scholarship is applied first; any remaining balance will be charged to your student account.

How can I check my textbook scholarship balance?

You can check your balance in person at the UD Bookstore, or online:

  • In-person: When visiting the UD Bookstore, give your Student ID to a sales associate at the register; they can provide you with your balance. Your balance is also noted at the bottom of your receipt.
  • Online: Visit GET Online; your balance will be listed in the Overview section.

How much should I budget for my textbooks?

In order to determine what the maximum cost would be for your course materials, total the value of all your required textbooks at the new textbook price listed.

Remember to include the sales tax (Dayton's rate is 7.5%) when determining your total cost.

Why is the charge on my account different than what I was quoted?

The charge against your account reflects the maximum possible purchase price for all the items selected (typically the price for a new edition). This ensures that the UD Bookstore will be able to provide each item in the event that a rental or used copy is not available.

Which payment methods are accepted?

The UD Bookstore accepts many forms of payment, including:

  • All major credit cards
  • Apple Pay
  • Flyer Express (make sure you have enough funds in your account).

Note: Cash is not accepted.

You can also charge your Student Account and pay online at a later date. You'll receive an email from udbilling@udayton.edu with your bill and payment instructions. The bill doesn't provide any detailed information about what was purchased.

What are the benefits of using Flyer Express?

The No. 1 benefit is ease of use!

Flyer Express can be used to purchase textbooks and general merchandise at the UD Bookstore. Running low on funds? Parents, guardians, relatives, etc. can add funds to your Flyer Express account online anytime.

If you need to return an item, the refunded amount will show up on your Flyer Express account immediately, vs. a credit card, which might take several days.

What are the benefits of purchasing textbooks at the UD Bookstore?

Students purchasing their books in the Bookstore have more options and greater cost savings that can't be offered online.

Bookstore staff members can ensure accuracy when it comes to matching your purchases to your schedule so you know you're getting the exact books you need for class.

At the UD Bookstore, you'll have access to new, used, rental and e-books.
