Leroy embodies the mission of educational opportunity. His extensive career is defined by his commitment to leveling the playing field:
- TRIO Background: As an alum of the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program and former President of Ohio TRIO, he brings crucial firsthand experience to this national role.
- Student Advocacy: Leroy has dedicated his career to mentoring and advising first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students from 6th grade through college graduation.
- Comprehensive Guidance: He has developed and taught workshops on everything from high school completion and college preparation to advising college students on right fit majors, career readiness, financial aid, and self-advocacy.
About the Educational Opportunity Association (EOA)
The EOA is a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit consortium of professionals dedicated to increasing accessibility to and success in postsecondary education for first-generation, low-income, underrepresented, disabled students, and veterans.
- Impact: Established in 1975, EOA represents professional educators in over 615 programs across the Midwest's ten states, reaching more than 165,532 students.
- Reach: EOA is the representative body for eight-chapter associations, including Illinois TRIO, Indiana TRIO, Iowa TRIO, Michigan College Access Program Personnel, Minnesota TRIO, MOKANE, Ohio TRIO, and Wisconsin Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel.
