Celebrating Catholic Educators in Ohio

The University of Dayton's School of Education and Health Sciences celebrated Catholic educators with the third annual Lumen Fidei Award dinner and reception. The 2025 Lumen Fidei Award winner is Dr. Matthew Fletcher, a physics teacher from Mount Notre Dame High School in Cincinnati.

Lumen Fidei is a state-wide award to an outstanding Catholic school teacher in the state of Ohio. Nominations come from across the state each fall, and the award is bestowed the following spring.

New in 2025, the Lumen Fidei committee added a Rising Star Award, given to a nominee who has taught in Catholic education for less than 10 years and shows great promise in the future of the field. The inaugural Rising Star award winner is Moira Rodriguez, an arts and enrichment teacher at Romero Academy at Resurrection in Cincinnati.

In addition to the educators' awards, the Lumen Fidei committee also commissioned artwork from Catholic school students as part of the prize. There were over 25 submissions, and the two selected pieces of art were created by Juliana Montoya (Lumen Fidei) and Lauren Dexter (Rising Star).
