This year, the Department of Health and Sport Science will hold its annual Dr. Anne Crecelius Health and Sport Science Student Awards in conjunction with the Doris Drees Speaker Series.
The event is free and open to the entire University of Dayton community.
This year's Doris Drees speaker will be American rower Molly Bruggeman. Bruggeman competed in the World Rowing Championships in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023, and was on Team USA at the 2024 Olympics. She was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, and got her start with the Dayton Boat Club.
In addition to the speaker, the event will include an awards ceremony that recognizes undergraduate student achievement in dietetics, health science, health & wellness, nursing, and sport management.
The following students will be recognized in the awards portion of the event:
The John L. MacBeth Award of Excellence goes to an outstanding student in the Department of Health and Sport Science

The Lloyd L. Laubach Servant Leader Award of Excellence is presented to an outstanding servant leader in Health and Sport Science
Anna Caldwell
The James B. LaVanche Award of Excellence goes to two outstanding scholar/athletes graduating in the Department of Health and Sport Science

The Rising Excellent Student Award goes to an outstanding first-, second-, or third- year student in the Department of Health and Sport Science

The James M. Landis Memorial Awards of Excellence are presented annually to an outstanding graduating senior in each of the Health Science concentrations
