Navigating Immigration Law

Why did you decide to earn a J.D.?

I wanted to help people in my community. I always had a passion for understanding how rules shape society.

What was your experience like at UDSL?

I had a great time at UDSL. From an academic perspective, the professors were knowledgeable in their respective fields and inspired a desire to learn; they would be willing to assist and answer any questions and provide guidance. I felt welcome from the first day of class to the last; and I made long lasting friendships.

How has the J.D. helped with your career and what are you doing now?

Currently, I am predominantly practicing immigration law and some criminal law cases in Florida. The J.D. has trained me to break down complex problems logically and think like a lawyer.

What advice would you give a future lawyer?

The advice I have for future lawyers is to practice without fear. The law is rarely black and white — the best lawyers are comfortable working in gray areas.
