Alumni Advantage Grant

To qualify for the grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Hold a conferred degree (bachelor's or higher) from the University of Dayton.
• Matriculate into an eligible UD graduate certificate, master’s or doctoral program in Fall 2027 or later.
• Maintain eligible full-time or part-time graduate course enrollment.

Yes. The award is designed to foster continuous lifelong learning. As long as you hold a conferred UD degree, the scholarship persists through your initial graduate program and can also be applied toward subsequent eligible graduate credentials at UD.

Yes. UD alumni currently enrolled in an eligible graduate program will be automatically transitioned to the Alumni Advantage Grant. However, this does not apply to those in the Bachelor's Plus Master's (BPM) program; see additional guidance for BPM students.

Due to specialized pricing, capacity limits or existing clinical frameworks, the following professional and clinical degree programs are excluded from the grant:

• Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.S.E., Certificate)
• Dietetics and Nutrition (MDN)
• Dietetics Verification Statement (Certificate)
• Human Services (MSE)
• Juris Doctor (J.D.)
• Physician Assistant Practice (MPAP)
• Physical Therapy (DPT and Residence Sports Physical Therapy)
• School Counseling (MSE)
• School Psychology (Ed.S.)

The grant is structured as a predictable, flat-rate award contingent upon your registered credit hours each term (full-time vs. part-time status). 

*The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Master of Dietetics and Nutrition (MDN), Master of Physician Assistant Practice (MPAP), Sport PT Residency, Ed.S. in School Psychology, M.S.E. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, M.S.E. in Human Services and M.S.E. in School Psychology programs are not eligible for this award.

**The award persists for the entire duration of your graduate program, ensuring consistent, guaranteed financial planning from your first semester through graduation.

The grant cannot be stacked or combined with full tuition waivers or certain institutional benefits, including:

• Graduate Assistantships (GAs) or Teaching Assistantships (TAs) carrying full tuition remission.
• University of Dayton employee tuition remission benefits (current UD personnel).
• Other primary institutional tuition scholarships or full-tuition awards.

No separate scholarship application is required. Upon official application and matriculation into an eligible graduate program, your academic record is verified automatically. Once verified, the award is applied directly to your student financial account based on your credit hour course load.

Starting in fall 2027, the Alumni Advantage Grant framework will officially replace the legacy Bachelor's-Plus-Master's (BPM) flat-rate tuition pricing structure for undergraduate BPM students transitioning into their graduate degree programs.

Upon completing your undergraduate degree and officially matriculating into your master's program in Fall 2027 or later, you will automatically receive the Alumni Advantage Grant tiered award.

Almost all Bachelor's Plus Master's students who are enrolled in and actively taking graduate-level coursework prior to Fall 2027 are fully grandfathered under their existing plan. You will retain your current legacy BPM tuition pricing structure through the completion of your program. Bachelor's Plus Master's students enrolled in the MPA, Theology and Theological Studies programs will be transitioned to the Alumni Advantage Grant.
