University of Dayton vice president for advancement Chris Morrison to retire in January 2026

The University of Dayton today announced Chris Morrison '85, vice president for advancement, will retire Jan. 12, concluding 13 years of dedicated service and profound impact on the institution.

Morrison guided the recently completed "We Soar" comprehensive campaign, which raised $453 million, exceeding its original goal by more than $50 million. It stands as the largest fundraising effort in University history.

"Chris' leadership was foundational to the success of the record-breaking 'We Soar' campaign," said University of Dayton President Eric F. Spina. "He stepped into the vice president role just prior to the public launch of the campaign, and its success is a testament to his diligence, hard work, and ability to inspire our advancement team. He significantly strengthened our culture of philanthropy for generations to come."

A proud alumnus, Morrison joined the University as a consultant in 2012 before becoming an employee in January 2013, following a 27-year career in sales and leadership. His return to his alma mater played a key role in re-engaging alumni and reigniting their passion for UD. His dedication to the Catholic, Marianist mission has been evident throughout his work, shaping a vibrant culture of giving back within the community.

"Getting this opportunity to come back to a place I love and give back has been truly fulfilling," Morrison said. "Working for UD has given me a profound understanding of the countless lives touched by our institution — the thousands of students and alumni who are better for their UD experience. I would like to see this culture of giving continue to strengthen."

Morrison will continue to serve in an as-needed, part-time role at UD, tending to key relationships he has cultivated.

Kim Longo, assistant vice president for advancement, will serve as interim vice president for advancement beginning Jan. 12 allowing for continued momentum in the University's advancement efforts.
