97% of recent grads report getting off on right foot toward career success
University of Dayton graduates continue to find success after graduation, with 97% reporting being employed, pursuing a graduate degree or participating in a service program within six months of graduation.
UD's success rate has been at least 95% in eight of the last nine years, with the outlier being 93% the COVID-19 year of 2019-20.
Other items of note from the survey of graduates from August and December 2023 and May 2024 include:
- The average starting salary was reported at $61,798, up from $59,766 last year.
- 95% reported they are finding success in their chosen fields or in a job that's a first step toward a position in their field.
- The success rates by school are 100% for the School of Education and Health Sciences, 99% for the School of Business Administration, 98% for the School of Engineering and 93% for the College of Arts and Sciences.
- Top employers include the United States Air Force, GE Aerospace, Premier Health and Honda.
- The Ohio State University, University of Cincinnati and University of Notre Dame are among the top graduate schools accepting UD graduates.
- 854 unique employers hired UD graduates; students are attending 100 grad schools.
- Half of the graduates who reported being employed found employment in Ohio while the other half found opportunities in at least 31 states and 12 countries.

Our goal is to have our students day-one ready for the next steps in their journeys," said Jason Eckert, executive director of UD Career Services. "You can see, from the results, that can be most anywhere our students desire, as they find opportunities with top employers and grad schools around the nation and world."
