“This is our house” — it’s what Flyer fans chant at the end of winning basketball games at home.
During March, the University of Dayton welcomes Division-I men’s basketball to “our house” — and invites teams and their fans to make UD Arena their own during the NCAA First Four.
The first teams to play — UMBC, Howard, Texas and NC State — started with open practices Monday, with the public invited to watch. Some fans even brought Sharpies and gear for the players to sign.
Games are being held March 17-18, two each day.
The arena parking lot will begin filling soon, with fans ready to cheer on their own team — or really, any team. It’s but one of the many things that distinguish Dayton as the “epicenter of college basketball.”
Welcome.
