Finding the ultimate rest and relaxation on the University of Dayton campus can be a tall task. But starting in November, it got a little easier … and a lot closer at The WELL.

The Wellness Experience Learning Lab, or The WELL, is a traveling symposium inside UD’s ArtStreet that allows students, staff and faculty access to wellbeing and relaxation activities like sound bowls, aromatherapy and even a cushy lounge chair that mimics the first three stages of your sleep cycle.

The Brook Center’s assistant director of wellbeing, Laura Carper, said the space helps students engage in something everyone needs more of: rest.

“Rest isn’t just about sleep — it’s deeply personal, essential for survival and vital for maintaining healthy relationships,” she said. “After a session, one student remarked, ‘Wow, I didn’t know how much I needed that.’”

UD is the first university in the U.S. to host The WELL. Next, it will travel to the University of Pennsylvania.
