Profile

Timothy Keune, Ph.D., is the executive director of strategic financial planning and academic budgeting in the office of the provost. He leads financial strategy for academic affairs, overseeing resource allocation, prioritization, and strategic initiatives. He advises and collaborates with academic leadership to standardize budgeting, conduct strategic resource planning, and provide financial reporting for data-driven decisions.

Dr. Keune joined the University of Dayton in 2014. He was an associate professor and chair in the department of accounting until his appointment as executive director in 2025. His faculty research centered on manager discretion and how it is affected by accounting information and performance measurement. His work has been published in The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, and Journal of Accounting Literature. Dr. Keune has received teaching awards at two universities as well as two research awards from the Management Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association. Prior to entering the Ph.D. program at the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Keune was a division controller for a Fortune 500 Company.
