Personal History

Hello. I am Duncan Fischley, the Campus Minister for first-year resident hall Marycrest, and I oversee retreat experiences for first-year students. My role is to meet the needs of the residents of Marycrest and first year students and create loving spaces for spiritual flourishing for all students who walk through.

After graduating from UD in 2013 with degrees in Secondary Education and Religious Studies, I volunteered for two years with the Catholic Student Center at Washington University in St. Louis. I then pursued further studies, earning my Masters' in Theology and a Certificate in Pastoral Counseling at Villanova University. I have since been working in ministry for the past seven years around the Philadelphia area, most recently at Rosemont College. I am thrilled to have returned to UD, a place that holds a special place in my heart.

I love hiking, Dungeons and Dragons, board games, Spikeball, Volleyball, and spending time with my two-year-old son, partner, and ten-year-old dog, Sandy.

“I shoulder my pack and hit the trail, realizing I’m being called to a memory deeper than my own, to a language my body has known all along. The desert speaks- out of lifetimes of patience and pain-with a subtle but insistent voice. My role in the Great Conversation isn’t finally to understand, only to listen and love.” - Belden C. Lane
