Profile
Daniel Wiest currently works as a law clerk to Hon. Walter H. Rice, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Ohio. Prior to turning to the law, Professor Wiest received his Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics from The Ohio State University. After working retail for many years, he was hired as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, where the legal training fascinated him and eventually drove him to attend law school.
As a law student at the University of Dayton School of Law, Professor Wiest served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Dayton Law Review, Associate Justice and Coach of the Moot Court Team, Election Commissioner of the Student Bar Association, and a member of the University Honor Council. He completed internships with Hon. Caroline H. Gentry, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Ohio, Hon. Algenon L. Marbley, Chief Judge for the Southern District of Ohio, as well as with the Tax Division of the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.
Aside from his work, he enjoys working with the community and currently serves as a Director on the Board for the Gem City Career Prep High School and as the Membership and Communications Chair for the Dayton Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
