Profile

John “JP” Jarecki is a litigation associate at Taft Stettinius & Hollister, an AM Law 100 firm.

Prior to joining the firm, JP gained valuable legal experience serving as a judicial extern to the Hon. Chief Judge Algenon L. Marbley, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and as a judicial extern to the Hon. Judge Guy R. Humphrey, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

JP earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Dayton School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the University of Dayton Law Review. Additionally, while in law school, JP served as a Dean’s Fellow and received the 2023 Outstanding Research Award in Law. His scholarship has appeared in the University of Pittsburgh Law Review Online EditionPenn State Public Policy Journal, and the University of Dayton Law Review. In 2023, JP authored “Demystifying Law Review: A short guide to help you make law review, succeed as a new staff editor, publish your law review comment, and secure a top editorial board position.” JP earned his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in political science from Penn State University, The Behrend College where he served as president of the Student Government Association. He is also a graduate of Penn State’s Schreyer Honors College. 

JP is an active member of the Carl Kessler Inn of Court and the Dayton Bar Association (“DBA”), where he serves on the Editorial Board of the DBA’s publication, “Bar Briefs.” He also previously served as the co-chair of the corporate counsel section.

In his free time, JP is an avid sailor and author of fiction. His first novel, The Icarus Affair, was published in 2024.
