Profile
Shea is an Assistant Professor of Law Libraries and the Assistant Director of the Zimmerman Law Library.
Shea graduated from American Military University with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice in 2019 before continuing her education at The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law, where she received her J.D. magna cum laude and Order of the Coif in 2022. During law school, Shea was elected to be the Editor-in-Chief for the Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law, where she co-authored a note--Judicial Review of Blanket Declination Policies--and was awarded the Dressler Award for Excellence in Criminal Law. She also served as an Executive Editor for the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy's 2021 Symposium Issue. During law school, Shea worked as a research assistant for Professor Joshua Dressler and Professor Christopher Walker. Upon graduation, she was recognized by the law school as a Public Service Fellow with Dean's Highest Honors--for providing over 450 hours of volunteer legal service during law school--and selected as the 2022 Outstanding Student Advocate Award recipient, given by the University's Disability Services to an exemplary advocate for disability access and inclusion at the University.
Prior to law school, Shea worked as a paralegal at the Dayton U.S. Attorney's Office in the Criminal Division and also worked as an extern for the Dayton and Columbus offices during law school. She spent a summer externing for Judge Patricia A. Millett at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. She also worked as a judicial intern for Judge Michael J. Newman for the Southern District of Ohio. During her final year in law school, she worked as a prosecutor for Delaware County Municipal Court through Ohio State's prosecution clinic. Upon graduation, she worked as a Commercial Litigation Associate at Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP in Dayton, Ohio before serving as a law clerk. In 2023, Shea clerked for Justice R. Patrick DeWine at the Supreme Court of Ohio and then clerked for Judge J. Philip Calabrese in the Northern District of Ohio in 2024.
Since 2010, Shea has served in the United States Air Force Reserves at Wright Patterson Air Force Base--primarily as an Avionics Technician on the C-17 military aircraft and as a member of the WPAFB Honor Guard--working full time for the Department of Defense from 2013 until 2018. Today, she holds the rank of Master Sergeant and serves as an Avionics Shop Supervisor and as her squadron’s Undershirt.
