Daniel Craine joined the University of Dayton School of Law in July 2018. He is the Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. He teaches Learning Skills Lab, Elements of Legal Analysis, Remedies, Legal Profession I, Torts I, and Creditor’s Rights.

Prof. Craine received his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Dayton of Law. He served as Research and Outside Articles Editor for the University of Dayton School of Law - Law Review.

After graduation, he went on to clerk for the Honorable Burton Perlman, Bankruptcy Court S.D. of Ohio. Among typical law clerk duties, he assisted Judge Perlman in teaching the Reorganization course at the University of Cincinnati School of Law. Following his clerkship, Prof. Craine joined the Department of Justice, Office of the United States Trustee, through the Attorney General’s Honors Program. At the DOJ, he acted as a trial attorney for the Assistant United States Trustee in Columbus, Ohio. His litigation focused on preventing debtor and creditor abuse/fraud within bankruptcy cases, ranging from run-of-the-mill Chapter 7 consumer cases to complex Chapter 11 business cases.

Before joining UDSL, he taught various legal courses in the Sinclair Community College Paralegal Program, including Legal Writing and Research, Business Law, Property Law, Family Law, and Advanced Litigation.

Daniel is passionate about helping students achieve their goals. “Law school is very challenging, and I am here to help each student achieve and thrive within the UDSL community.” He is earning a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from the University of Dayton’s School of Education and actively applies skills learned there within his classroom.
