Daniel Craine joined the University of Dayton School of Law as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Academic Success Program in July 2018 and was appointed as Assistant Professor of Academic Success in 2019. He teaches Remedies and Elements of Legal Analysis at UDSL.

Prof. Craine received his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Dayton of Law where he served as Research and Outside Articles Editor for the University of Dayton School of Law - Law Review. He went on to clerk for the Honorable Burton Perlman, Bankruptcy Court S.D. of Ohio where, amongst typical law clerk duties, he assisted Judge Perlman in teaching the Reorganization course at the University of Cincinnati School of Law. Following his clerkship, Prof. Craine joined the Department of Justice, Office of the United States Trustee, through the Attorney General’s Honors Program. At the DOJ, he acted as trial attorney for the Assistant United States Trustee in Columbus, Ohio. His litigation focused on preventing debtor and creditor abuse/fraud within bankruptcy cases, ranging from run-of-the-mill Chapter 7 consumer cases to complex Chapter 11 business cases.

Before joining UDSL, he taught a variety of legal courses in the Sinclair Community College Paralegal Program, including Legal Writing and Research; Business Law; Property Law; Family Law; and Advanced Litigation. “Students might expect an hour-long lecture, but my active approach to learning prefers engaging students with problems right when class starts.”

Daniel is passionate about helping students achieve their goals. “One secret of success is to stay motivated and positive. Law school is very challenging, but I am committed to motivating and helping each student learn from their mistakes and achieve their success.”

If you would like to reach out to Prof. Craine, his office is Room 448 in Keller Hall. He can also be reached by email at or phone 937-229-2841.
