Profile
Mr. Borden serves as the Executive Director of Planned Giving for the University of Dayton and also holds an appointment as Assistant General Counsel for the University. In his role, Matt works with University alumni, faculty, families, and friends on complex and tax-savvy charitable contributions to UD, including testamentary gifts, complex trusts, real estate, intellectual property, tangible personal property, and business interests. His team also works with trusts, estates, and other fiduciaries to receive those assets when they are realized.
Mr. Borden earned a J.D. from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2014. While in law school, Matt served as a managing editor on the Ohio State Law Journal. As a law student he also won several national writing awards, including an article Bon digital asset inheritance recognized by the GRAMMY Awards and an article on exoneree compensation recognized by the Court of Federal Claims Bar Association. He also earned an MPA and BA in political science and sociology from Ohio State. Prior to law school, Matt worked for several nonprofit organizations in Miami, Florida focused on community engagement and volunteerism. He has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations including City Year Columbus, Give Back Cincinnati, the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, and the Godman Guild of Columbus.
