Andrew Beauchamp is Professor of Economics and holds the distinguished Thomas W. Albrecht Chair in Market Capitalism and the Common Good at the University of Dayton. Renowned for his expertise in market economics and his commitment to exploring the intersections between capitalism and ethical societal advancement, Dr. Beauchamp’s scholarship embodies the University’s Catholic and Marianist values of community, service, and the pursuit of the common good.

Dr. Beauchamp completed his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University, earning bachelor’s degrees in both Economics and Mathematics. He went on to obtain his master’s and doctorate in Economics from Duke University, where he developed deep expertise in economic theory, quantitative analysis, and applied policy research.

As a faculty member, Dr. Beauchamp is dedicated to advancing student understanding of economics in ways that engage contemporary issues and promote thoughtful, principled leadership. His work as the Albrecht Chair is distinguished by a focus on how markets can serve society and contribute to human flourishing, integrating Catholic social teaching with rigorous academic inquiry.
