Profile

Juanita-Michelle Darden is a dynamic entrepreneur, educator, and community advocate based in Dayton, Ohio. With a background in mathematics, she served as a Tenured Associate Professor at Sinclair Community College before transitioning into full-time entrepreneurship. In 2015, she founded Third Perk Coffeehouse & Wine Bar, creating a vibrant space for community engagement and cultural expression.

Darden holds a degrees from Franklin University of Dayton (Bachelor), University of Cincinnati (Master’s of Educational Leadership), and University of Dayton (Master’s of Education).

Beyond Third Perk (which closed December 2023), Darden has launched several initiatives, including the SHE-Roe Storytelling Series, highlighting the stories of women of color in the community. She also hosts "The Broken Entrepreneur" podcast, offering insights into the challenges and triumphs of entrepreneurship. In 2024, she expanded her ventures with the opening of Soul Food Carryout in West Dayton, aiming to serve and uplift underserved communities.
