Sarah Richard is the Director of Sustainability Programs at the Fitz Center for Leadership in Community at the University of Dayton. In this role, she develops experiential learning opportunities that empower students to address environmental and social challenges on campus and throughout the Dayton community. She leads the Sustainability Student Leaders Program, supporting students as they gain hands-on experience through campus initiatives, community partnerships and professional development opportunities.

Sarah’s work is rooted in the belief that sustainability is inherently interdisciplinary and best advanced through collaboration. Her interests lie at the intersection of technical systems, community engagement and social impact, with a particular interest in the role small businesses and strong local economies can play in building more resilient, equitable and sustainable communities.

Outside of the University, Sarah has been actively engaged in sustainability and community development efforts throughout Dayton. Her experience includes work related to residential energy burden, environmental justice, food access, entrepreneurship and community-based sustainability.
