Profile

Satya is a Ph.D. student and graduate teaching assistant. She works with Dr Kango-Singh, primarily focusing on studying development and cancer using Drosophila as a model. She works with Drosophila melanogaster as model organism to unveil the role intricate mechanism, i.e. Hippo and JNK in glioma progression and their role in immune activation in glioblastoma multiforme. As a graduate teaching assistant, she teaches BIO 312 L and BIO 151L Courses.

Satya had her previous education in India, earning a Master of Engineering in Biotechnology during from BITS (Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences, Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, and a Bachelor of Technology in Biotechnology from K L University. She worked as a research fellow in 2022-23 at L V Prasad Eye Institute-Hyderabad in Dr. Indhumathi Mariappan’s laboratory which performs basic and translational research toward retinal diseases using iPSCs and Zebra fish models. She worked on strategies to develop hypoimmunogenic cells using gene editing techniques including CRISPR-Cas9.
