Accreditation

The University of Dayton is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The Higher Learning Commission is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

In addition, many of UD's academic programs carry specialized accreditation specific to the field of study.

Student Location Policy

For purposes of federal regulations regarding professional licensure programs (34 C.F.R. 668.14(b)(32)), this policy establishes student location.

State Authorization

State authorization refers to the regulation of online courses and programs, as well as courses offered across state lines.

State-Specific Information

The University of Dayton has been approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) initiative. Participation in SARA provides the University with reciprocity to offer online/distance learning programs to residents of other SARA states. Additional information regarding SARA can be found at NC-SARA.

Currently authorized SARA member states include the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and all states except California. As an accredited, private non-profit postsecondary institution, the University of Dayton is not required to register with California to offer online programs and courses.

UD Programs Leading to Professional Licensure

The University of Dayton is approved to offer programs that may lead to licensure in Ohio. These include face-to-face, online, and hybrid programs. Professional licensure and certification requirements often vary from state to state. The University of Dayton does not guarantee that programs will satisfy the criteria of professional licensure boards in all states or territories. To the best of our knowledge, the list below indicates whether such programs do or do not satisfy curricular requirements for licensure in each state. Links to state professional associations or licensing authorities are provided in the list.

If you reside in a state other than Ohio and are interested in signing up for an online course or program, please contact us at udonline@udayton.edu. The University will review our authorization status in your state and notify you if we can accept your application to our course or program. Students who are considering a program of study that may lead to professional licensure, may also contact the appropriate licensing agency in their state of residence to understand the regulations and requirements for their home state prior to applying to any academic program.
