The Multi-Ethnic Education and Engagement Center (MEC) provides staff, facilities, services and special programs to support the academic experience of students. MEC staff members work closely with academic deans, faculty and administrative offices to provide a supportive campus environment based on the academic, social and cultural needs of a diverse community of scholars. This center serves as a resource for the entire campus community while providing multicultural students and their families with an additional connection to the University.

MEC cares about your academic journey and provides many resources to help you meet your goals. For example, you can participate in weekly study tables or receive 1:1 academic coaching from a member of our team.

Meaningful Connections

Finding spaces to belong and make connections with fellow students is essential to the college experience. MEC offers mentoring programs and supports over 20 student organizations that provide opportunities for engagement and belonging.


For Future Flyers

From overnight experiences to pre-orientation programming, incoming students have many opportunities to experience life on campus, discover support services and resources, connect with students, faculty and staff, and more.

Spaces

The Multi-Ethnic Education and Engagement Center strives to provide a caring and accessible spaces for students, including:

  • Computer access with free printing available to undergraduates who are involved with the MEC community
  • Meeting/study spaces
  • Workspace that includes a refrigerator and microwave
  • Academic reference materials and office supplies (e.g. staplers, tape, etc.)
  • Student resource room with supplies, materials and reservable storage

Building Access and Usage

MEC's regular business hours are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  Outside of these hours, including evenings and weekends, registered UD undergraduate students may access Alumni Hall and the MEC Lounge with their student identification card.

Students who use the facility are expected to follow guidelines to keep the space safe, clean and welcoming.

For safety reasons, MEC requests that students be mindful of who uses the space. Non-affiliate guests (family, friends) are welcome, but they must be accompanied at all times by their student host. Students are responsible for the actions of anyone who enters MEC as your guest (on ‘your card swipe’), including personal liability for any damages.

Computers and other services should not be used for personal or non-UD purposes.

A violation of any section of the Building Access/Usage Policy can result in your access privileges being revoked, in addition to being held accountable for other applicable University policies.
