Important Info

Stadium parking lot access

In previous years, UD Family Weekend has coincided with a UD Flyers football game. This year, the schedule does not include a home football game.

Because Dayton Public Schools activities are scheduled throughout the weekend at Welcome Stadium, which is owned by the school district and not the University, the stadium parking lot will be closed to UD students and guests.

Tailgating is not permitted at the stadium or anywhere else on campus.

Community safety expectations

Our priority is maintaining a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for every family on campus.

Officers from UD Public Safety and the City of Dayton will be present throughout the weekend to assist visitors and manage campus safety. To help maintain a positive experience for all, officers will step in if gatherings generate excessive noise, block access points or create disruptive crowds.

Parking and campus traffic flow

Parking on and around campus will be limited. We ask all students and guests keep the following community guidelines in mind:

  • All streets and parking lots need to remain clear for local and thru traffic. Unobstructed roadways and parking lots are critical for emergency vehicles and ongoing university operations.
  • Vehicles or gatherings that disrupt the continuous flow of traffic may be asked to relocate by public safety personnel.

Dining venues and operating hours

Two dining venues on campus will have extended or additional operating hours during Family Weekend:

  • Friday, Sept. 25: KU 'Que open until 8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 26: Au Bon Pain open from 8-11:30 a.m.

The Greek Week Committee, in Collaboration with the Center for Student Involvement/Fraternity and Sorority Life, Presents: Puttin' On The Hits 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. UD Arena Yes

Puttin' On the Hits (POTH) is the culminating event of Greek Week! This annual dance competition provides a showcase of the talents of our fraternities and sororities.

This year, proceeds from POTH and all of Greek Week will benefit Dayton Dream Center! Join us for a fun-filled evening of music, dancing, and, of course, the presentation of the coveted POTH and Greek Week trophies! All are welcome to this family-friendly event!

The Dayton Dream Center is a faith-based, non-profit outreach center dedicated to addressing the critical needs of the community with dignity, love and practical support. They serve those affected by poverty, addiction, homelessness, food insecurity and limited access to opportunity, building a community where neighbors help neighbors and every life has the opportunity to flourish.

CAB Presents Magician Derek Hughes 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. Boll Theatre, Kennedy Union Yes Join CAB for this year's Family Weekend Magician, Derek Hughes. He has performed on MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, and the Ellen Degeneres Show. He was also a finalist during the 10th season of America's Got Talent.
Volleyball – UD vs. Davidson 7 p.m. Frericks Center No

This is the conference opener — Flyer fans are encouraged to wear red!

The Thomas J. Frericks Athletic and Convocation Center is home to the Flyer volleyball team. The Frericks Center is the fourth-largest volleyball-only facility in college volleyball. Its 5,000 seat capacity is behind only Arkansas' Barnhill Arena (9,000), Nebraska's Bob Devaney Center (7,900), and Murray State's Cutchin Fieldhouse (5,500).

Dayton Volleyball has won 16 Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament titles. This year's squad received votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 Preseason Poll and was picked first in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll. Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and all-American Kamryn Hunt returns to lead this season's squad, along with A10 All-Rookie team members Corrie Anderson and Abigail Cresse. Nine newcomers joined the team for 2026, with five transfers and four freshmen.
UD Jazz Ensemble 8 – 9 p.m. Roger Glass Center for the Arts, Concert Hall No The UD Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Willie Morris, Ph.D., will present an hour of exciting, soulful, and toe-tapping contemporary music. Come and enjoy their first concert of the year.

Thomas J. Frericks 5k 10 – 11 a.m. RecPlex Yes The University of Dayton Department of Health and Sport Science annual Thomas J. Frerick's 5K will begin in front of the RecPlex with a running course through UD's campus. Registration is required for this event and is $30/person, please visit runsignup.com/Race/OH/Dayton/ThomasJFrericks5k to register. Proceeds will benefit the Department of Health and Sport Science and Phi Epsilon Kappa. Late registrations are not guaranteed a T-shirt.
Study Abroad 101 for Parents and Families: Supporting Your Student Through the Process Hosted by Education Abroad and Away 10 – 11 a.m. Science Center 114 No Is your student considering studying abroad? Join us for a quick overview of the various ways students can study abroad, as well as our 2026-27 offerings. During this session, we will also take a deeper dive into the how and why of studying abroad, as well as the key components of planning an international experience. Group Fitness Class – Spin 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. RecPlex Group Fitness Studio B Yes Spinning provides a fun and challenging 45-minute cardiovascular workout for a variety of fitness levels, as you control your resistance and speed. Hills, sprints, and endurance intervals are all part of the class that will enhance your speed, strength and stamina, improve overall physical health and increase caloric burn. Join us for an awesome heart-pumping workout!
Paddle in the Park 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Old River Park Yes Includes paddle (kayak/canoe), fishing, yard games. Old River Park Policy: All equipment needed will be provided. A parent or guardian must be present and sign the Participation Waiver for children under 18. Children under the age of 5 are not permitted on the water; children ages 6-12 will be restricted to riding as a passenger in a canoe with their parent/guardian. Please refer to the UDCR minor policy for any additional questions. Appropriate athletic attire required (no exposed buttons, rivets, zippers, etc.). Wear clothes that you do not mind getting wet.

Fiat and Faith: Symbolism of the Annunciation in the Marian Library Gallery invites you to explore the meaning behind visual elements such as the spindle, book, lily and dove, often seen in artwork of the Annunciation. 

Mirror of Hope: 25 Years of Visual Storytelling in the Crèche Museum showcases the popular 12-foot-long, 8-foot-high sculpture "Mirror of Hope" that tells the story of human salvation with the Nativity scene at its center.
Flyer Fest 4 – 8 p.m. Central Mall No

Join your fellow Flyers on the Central Mall for a fun-filled event, including games, food trucks and more! Did we have you at "food trucks"?

Enjoy staff from Square One Salon and Spa from 4-6 p.m., providing fairy hair and other cool stylings; UD Men's and Women's Basketball players will be signing autographs and posing for selfies from 5-6 p.m.; and get a sign made for your house. There will also be a caricature artist, games and inflatables!
