2026 Imagining Community Symposium: Civic Hope and Belonging

The annual Imagining Community Symposium brings together community members,nonprofit organizations, and local universities for meaningful dialogue, presentations,artistic expressions, and workshops. This year’s 5 th annual symposium centers aroundthe theme “Civic Hope; Belonging.” In an era marked by polarization anddisplacement, the symposium gathers scholars, practitioners, artists, students, and faithleaders to interrogate and cultivate the virtues that sustain democratic life, communityresilience, and the common good. The event is free and open to all.

Call for Proposals

The Fitz Center for Leadership in Community is accepting proposals for artwork and
sessions until June 30, 2026. Submissions can include panel presentations, workshops,
roundtables, lightning talks, and creative/artistic works. We welcome submission from all
-community organizers, faculty, students, artists, and civic leaders. Thematic Tracks for
2026 Include:
  •  Civic Engagement, Democracy, and Character Formation
  • Belonging, Inclusion, and Community Building
  • Hope, Moral Imagination, and Sustained Action
  • Race, Equity, and Justice
